Butler man charged with home improvement fraud
A Butler man is charged with home improvement fraud after failing to begin a project or return prepaid funds for more than two months, police said.
Joseph M. Musick, 57, was charged Thursday, Oct. 2, with felony home improvement fraud after an incident was reported to the state police in Butler on Sept. 25.
A Summit Township woman told police she paid Musick $4,654 for work on a roof. Police said the woman paid Musick $3,000 as a down payment before Musick requested an additional $1,645 on July 16 for materials.
Musick reportedly told the woman he would start and complete the work after returning July 26 from a trip in Florida. Police said Musick had not started or completed any of the work or returned the woman’s money.
Musick’s preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled.
