Seneca Valley asked to seek more affordable plan
I respectfully ask the Seneca Valley School District school board to review the proposed renovations of the intermediate high school to find ways to cut costs.
I understand that our school district is growing, and we must have facilities to provide our students with a quality education. But there must be ways this can be done at a lower cost than the current proposal.
Consider some facts from the Butler Eagle 2025 Butler County Answer Book. The tax rate for the Butler Area School District is 109.64 mills. For Knoch, it is 94.275 mills and for Mars, it is 110 mills. For Seneca, it is 143.85 mills.
Please consider the school district’s property owners. We fear that we will eventually be taxed beyond what we can bear.
When we buy a new car, we look at the top-of-the-line model with all the features and say how nice it would be to have that car. But we reconsider for a more affordable model that has only the features that we need.
Members of the Seneca Valley School District school board: Please review the proposal to eliminate nice to have features while maintaining the must-have features.
