Police: Butler man fled police after failing to register with Megan’s Law
A Butler man was charged with fleeing police after he failed to register with Megan’s Law, according to charges filed Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Caydon Logan Claypoole, 22 was arrested Wednesday after he ran away from his front porch where police had approached him, on the 400 block of Negley Avenue, according to police.
He was charged with felony evading arrest.
Claypoole was sentenced to 24 months probation in August 2024 and ordered to report to state police for 15 years after he was found guilty of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl.
Police said in the criminal complaint they approached Claypoole on his front porch after he called police over a “custody issue.” Police told Claypoole they had charges for him and had to take him into custody.
After police grabbed his right wrist to cuff him, Claypoole was able to escape, and after failing to tase him, several officers were able to tackle him to the ground, the affidavit said.
Claypoole is being held in Butler County Prison and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Oct. 20 before District Judge William Fullerton.
