Roberts

Stanley G. Roberts, 92, formerly of Westbrook Road, Butler, died at 4:38 a.m. Friday at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born Aug. 21, 1917, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late William A. Roberts and Margaret Mae Grant Roberts.

Mr. Roberts was a funeral director at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in Butler for 25 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Eulalia Lodge 342 F&AM of Coudersport, a lifetime member of the Coudersport Consistory Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Coudersport, a member of the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, the Butler Shrine Luncheon Club and the Caravan 14 of Butler.

He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the European theater during World War II.

Stanley had been a judge of elections for 16 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 52 years.Mr. Roberts is survived by one daughter, Marianne and her husband, Richard Lidstone, of Poland, Ohio; and one son and his wife, Thomas A. and Candace Roberts of Tucson, Ariz. He also is survived by a stepdaughter, Betty Darlene Smith; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a number of step-great-grandchildren; his brother, William L. Roberts of Coudersport; and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Darrin of Coudersport and Mrs. Jeanette Brown of Clarks Summit. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ellen Roberts, who passed away on Aug. 24, 1997; and by a brother.

<B>ROBERTS</B> — Friends of Stanley G. Roberts, who died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, will be received following church from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. David Panther of First United Methodist Church officiating.
