Butler Area School District looking to renovate annex at football stadium

Butler Area School District is hoping to have the annex next to Art Bernardi Stadium repaired. William Pitts/Butler Eagle 9/8/2025

BUTLER TWP — The Butler Area School District took the first step toward potentially overhauling the indoor annex next to Art Bernardi Stadium during a school board meeting Monday, Sept. 8.

The district has reached out to architecture design firm Weber Murphy Fox and Pittsburgh-based engineering firm Tower Engineering to perform an initial assessment of what repairs need to be made. In letters posted by the school district to its website, the companies estimated their services to cost a minimum of $25,000 and $9,000, respectively.

According to school superintendent Brian White, the elongated indoor structure, which is used throughout the year as a weight room among other functions, is dealing with air conditioning, roofing and plumbing issues.

“We’re having an architect do an assessment of it to find out what repairs we should do ... what kind of renovations should be done to it,” White said. “We know it needs a new roof. We know it has groundwater issues. We know it has HVAC issues. It’s a structure needs work done to it.”

White said during the meeting that he hopes for an analysis to be completed and presented to the school district by December.
