Mary 'Jean' Dunlap

Mary "Jean" Dunlap, 80, of Chicora died at 10:56 a.m. Sunday at her home in Chicora following a lingering illness.

She was born in Fairview Township, Jan. 23, 1928, the daughter of Alfred A. and Blanche M. Hilderbrand Burns.

She had worked for the Busy Bee Grocery and the Gaisford Drug stores in Chicora and then the Wine and Spirits stores in Chicora, East Brady and Butler until retiring in 1978.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Karns City, the Who Do Class of the church, the East Brady Red Hat Society and the Chicora American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred C. Dunlap, who she married Feb. 21, 1950; two daughters, Patricia Leech of Chicora and Kimberly Snyder and her husband, Donald, of Corry; three grandchildren, Anthony Snyder and his wife, Amy, Michael Snyder and his wife, Nichole, and Jennifer Leech; four great-grandchildren, Michelle, Bradley, Sarah and Patrick Snyder; a sister, Mary E. Byers and her husband, Louie, of Saxonburg; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Alfred Burns; and a sister, Margaret Ace.

<B>DUNLAP</B> — Friends of Mary "Jean" Dunlap, who died Sunday, July 27, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Glea Foster and the Rev. Jackie Bish officiating. Burial will be in the Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3014, Butler, PA 16003 or to the VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.
