Franklyn E. "Frank" Massung, 72, of North Sewickley Township died Sunday at his home.

Born May 18, 1935, in McKeesport, he was the son of Theodore E. Massung and Alice E. Linhart Massung Chapman.

Mr. Massung was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954 to 1957, and was stationed in Japan from 1955 to 1957.

He was a former patrolman with the Ellwood City Police Department, and had been a machine operator at the former Townsend Co.

Mr. Massung had also been a rural mail carrier for the Wampum Post Office and he was a security officer at the Passavant Retirement Community. He belonged to the AARP, the National Rifle Association, and was a former Cub Scout leader of Pack 806 in Ellwood City.

He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Weaver Massung, whom he married Sept. 8, 1995; three sons, Timothy and his wife, Deanna, Massung of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas and his wife, Pamela, Massung of Loveland, Ohio, and James Massung of Glendale, Ariz.; stepson, Mark and his wife, Karen, Weaver of Harrisburg; a stepdaughter, Melissa Weaver of Butler; three grandsons, Sean, Michael and Jeremy Massung of Loveland; granddaughter, Alexandra Massung of Glendale; special stepgranddaughter, Ashley Weaver of Harrisburg; and his dog and devoted companion, Princess.

"Frank" Massung, who died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES,</B> 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. John J. Hoogerbrugge officiating.
