Government benefits a hand up, not a way of life
I can understand why people get upset when they think those people who cannot afford health insurance and to feed their children will be losing their Medicaid and SNAP. I believe only those people who were not eligible for it in the first place or those not willing to work for it will lose it. It’s their choice.
First let’s define work. It could be taking an online course, volunteering, taking care of disabled loved ones and working a part-time job to name a few.
Pregnant women, disabled people, those over 64 or under 18, vets, homeless people and those taking care of young children are exempt.
It’s really common sense. Why should the rest of us get up every morning and go to work to be taxed to pay for these benefits when those who are getting them and are capable of working do nothing?
These programs were meant to give a hand up temporarily to those in need. They were not meant to be a way of life.
