Butler woman accused of assaulting woman, police at farmers market lot
A Butler woman is accused of assaulting a woman and officers while intoxicated on Monday, July 14, in a farmers market parking lot.
Niya Alexandra Adams, 25, was charged with three felony counts of aggravated assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest following the incident around 2:30 a.m. in Butler.
Police said they responded to reports of a woman yelling and found Adams aggressively approaching another woman. Police said Adams immediately fell when pushed away from the woman and smelled like alcohol.
When officers attempted to take Adams into custody, she reportedly pushed one in the chest, punched a second in the face, causing bleeding, and fought with a third, leaving cuts and abrasions.
Adams resisted being put into a patrol vehicle and continually kicked inside the vehicle. Police interviewed bystanders and found Adams punched the woman in the face.
Adams’ preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. July 21. She’s being held in Butler County Prison on a $75,000 bond.
