Annual antique show upcoming

Fundraiser in Harmony

HARMONY — The Harmony Museum’s annual antique show and sale fundraiser will be Sept. 17-18 at the Barn Museum annex at 303 Mercer Road.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admissions and sales of antiques donated to the museum for the show support museum operations. A light lunch and refreshments are available.

Pennsylvania, Michigan and Indiana dealers will offer antiques, including country and period furniture, folk art, glass, jewelry, lighting, oriental, paintings, pottery, primitives, textiles, tools and toys. The show chair is Tammy Gallagher of Sanford’s Antiques in Chicora.

The show is held at what is billed as the region’s oldest barn, built in 1805 to shelter sheep of the communal Harmony Society of German Lutheran Separatists who founded Harmony.

The heart of their community has been declared a National Historic Landmark.

Within walking distance of the barn are the Harmony Museum (guided tours 1 to 4 p.m. daily except Mondays and holidays), a log house where museum volunteers demonstrate weaving, a number of specialty shops, a restaurant, a coffee-and-lunch shop and two bakeries.
