Forward Township reshuffles supervisors in advance of vacancies

At a Forward Township supervisors meeting June 12, Mark Wilson stepped down as chairman of the board, handing the position to Susan Oliver-Stough.

Wilson’s term will expire at the end of the year and he opted not to run for reelection. According to Wilson, it was planned from the start of the year that he would give up his duties as chairman to Oliver-Stough to give her more time to adjust to the duties, which include leading township meetings.

Oliver-Stough will be the only Forward Township supervisor to carry over from this year into 2026. The third member, Sheryle Long, will also step down at the end of 2025.

Long was initially appointed in May 2025 to fill the vacancy left by Steve Buehler, who resigned due to increasing schedule conflicts.

“Sheryle is a very busy person with a law practice in Butler and has chosen not to run for the remaining two years of Steve’s term,” Wilson said.

Current roadmaster Charles Behm is the only candidate to succeed Wilson’s six-year seat, while Ray Turner is in line to fill out the remaining two years of Long’s term. Both appeared on the Butler County primary election ballot in May as Republican candidates and were each unopposed.
