The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department office in Alameda Park will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Flag Day, to sell pool passes, swim lessons, rent park shelters and take Camp Alameda registrations.

[naviga:h3]Father, son back in concert series[/naviga:h3]

Washboard Tony and Son will again take part in the free Family Summer Concert Series at Alameda Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. June 19.

“Washboard” Tony Frochio of Connoquenessing on drums and percussion and his son, Nic, on guitar will provide an evening of what Frochio has called “folk music with a twist.”

It is a family event.

“We had a really good turnout last year. We are hoping for the same this year,” said Frochio.

All concerts in the series will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Odd Fellow Gazebo at the park in Butler Township.

[naviga:h3]VA Healthcare hosts fashion show[/naviga:h3]

VA Butler Healthcare will have a veteran fashion show from noon to 3 p.m. June 19 in the auditorium of the facility at 325 New Castle Road.

VA Butler’s Center for Behavioral Health Recovery Team, AmeriCors and Dress for Success Pittsburgh are hosting the event meant to educate veterans on how to dress for formal events, interviews and work situations.

A reception with light refreshments will be available following the show.
