Wexford man charged in Adams Township burglary
A Wexford man was charged after reportedly breaking down the door of an Adams Township home.
Devon Pettit Beer, 37, faces charges of felony burglary and one misdemeanor count each of intimidating witnesses and criminal mischief following the Sunday, June 29, incident.
Police said they were dispatched to a home on Schultz Road for a report of a man who kicked down a door. Police found wood debris from the broken door when they arrived.
Police said they spoke with a woman at the scene who said Beer arrived shortly after 11 p.m. He reportedly texted the woman that he would be coming by to collect three bicycles from the garage. Police said one belonged to Beer, and the other two belonged to the woman and her teenage son.
The woman told police she put Beer’s bicycle outside the garage so she would not have to see him. The woman told police Beer kicked the door open when he arrived to find only his bicycle outside.
Police said while the woman attempted to call 911, Beer entered the residence and smacked the phone out of her hand. The woman then yelled to her son upstairs to call 911. She told police Beer then fled the residence.
Beer’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz is not yet scheduled.
