McCandless

Marjorie R. McCandless, 84, of Baden, formerly of Zelienople and New Sewickley Township in Beaver County, died Monday afternoon at the Villa at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Baden.

Born in Butler, June 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John Bruce and Isabel D. Smith Renfrew.

She retired from Freedom School District as a lunch room supervisor for the Unionville Building.

She was a charter member of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, a member of the Bible study and a member of the Presbyterian Women. She also was a member of the New Sewickley Homemaker's Club. She was a Girl Scout and 4-H leader and a Boy Scout leader.

She enjoyed playing the piano.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Bauer (Gary) of Cranberry Township, Andrea Altenhof (Robert) of Homeworth, Ohio, and a son, Donald McCandless (Debbie) of Naples, Fla.; a brother, John Renfrew (Phyllis) of Valencia; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. McCandless, who she married Feb. 5, 1947, and who died Feb. 21, 2008.

<B>MCCANDLESS</B> — Friends of Marjorie R. McCandless, who died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 101 Big Knob Road, Rochester, PA 15074, at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Dan Callahan, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will be in the Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.Memorials may be sent to the church building fund.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
