Cypher

Patricia Ann (Bowser) Cypher, 84, of Worthington, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026.

She was born Aug. 10, 1942, in Kittanning, the daughter of the late Milliard Bowser and Josephine (Hodak) Bowser Voelkel, and was a lifelong resident of the community.

She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville. Patricia was a homemaker, known as Positive Pat among her family. She retired from Walmart after working multiple years in the electronics department. 

She enjoyed listening to Pirates games, going to the casino and scratch-off tickets. She especially enjoyed going to her happy place, Hilton Head, with her family. She loved traveling with her husband, Butch; her family; and friends. The grass did not grow under her feet. She liked reading and writing notes. Her family always knew she was playing Words with Friends and Wordle every morning on her iPad.

Those left behind to forever cherish her memory include her children, Kathy (Randy) Heilman, of Worthington, Sharon (Mark) Mechling, of Homer City, Susan (Rich) Green, of Pittsburgh, Paula (Dave) Berry, of Kittanning, Georgia (Kevin) Bowser, of Worthington, and Richard (Crystal) Cypher, of Kittanning; grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Hyde, of South Dakota, Derek (Ellen) Mechling, of Zelienople, Emily (Bobby) Gates, of Blairsville, Kelsey (Brett) Moore, of Kittanning, Dillon (Natalia) Green, of Broomall, Pa., Allie (Grant) Jones, of Pittsburgh, Laini Berry, of Cabot, Logan Bowser, of Worthington, Paul Cypher, of Kittanning, Lauren Bowser, of Worthington, and Maggie Cypher, of Kittanning; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Kendall Gates, Cameron and Oliver Moore, Teddy and Hunter Mechling, and Lucy and Wesley Green. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Dot, Dolly and Sandy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Larry “Butch” Cypher, whom she married Sept. 24, 1960, and who died Aug. 25, 2012; sister, Peg Evans; an infant sister; brothers-in-law, Bob, Ron, Carl and Ed; and sister-in-law, Jean.

CYPHER — Friends of Patricia Ann (Bowser) Cypher, who died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 668 Clearfield Road, Fenelton, with Father Matthew McClain as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
