Marjorie M. Johnson
Marjorie M. Johnson passed away peacefully at Atria Assisted Living, Bethlehem, Pa., Wednesday, Nov. 19.
A longtime resident of Butler, she moved to Bethlehem three years ago to be closer to family.
She was born Dec. 30, 1915, in New York City to the late Floy Walworth and Joseph Parke MacDowell.
Marjorie studied nursing at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia and worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and Albany General Hospital until her marriage. She was married for 56 years to Robert L. Johnson, who died Dec. 25, 2000.
In Butler, Mrs. Johnson volunteered with Girl Scout programs and at Butler Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years. She also was an active member of the St. Peter's Episcopal Women's Group.
She enjoyed swimming, bridge, reading and time spent with her family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert of Albany, Parke Walworth of New Brighton, Paul of York and Sherman of Spokane, Wash.
She is survived by a son, Robert P. Johnson and his wife, Jeanine, of Emmaus, Pa.; a daughter, Lynn Anderson and her husband, Dr. Eric Anderson, of East Dennis, Mass.; four grandchildren, Britta Anderson Wassung, David Anderson, Stephen Johnson and Ryan Johnson; and three great-grandchildren.
