Slippery Rock man sentenced for touching young girl

An elderly Slippery Rock Township man was sentenced to prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to charges state police filed for inappropriately touching a 4-year-old girl in October 2022.

Robert L. McPeak, 73, of Slippery Rock was sentenced in Common Pleas Court to serve nine months to 23 months and 15 days in the county prison after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child and a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure. His sentence includes 24 months of probation after his release from jail, prohibits contact with the victim, a $200 fine and requires him to follow conditions for sexual offenders while on probation.

Police said a ChildLine report filed Feb. 13, 2024, indicated the girl reported McPeak inappropriately touched her. She was interviewed two days later at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Butler County.

Police said the child was able to identify where on her body she was touched and where the assault took place in McPeak’s home. Other witnesses confirmed the girl was often left in McPeak’s care, police added.
