PA American Water to host public tour of wastewater treatment plant
Residents in the Butler area have the opportunity to learn more about what happens with their wastewater thanks to a public tour of a plant happening Saturday, June 7.
The event is hosted by Pennsylvania American Water at the Butler wastewater treatment plant, 100 Litman Road, Butler Township. The open house and tour begins at 10 a.m. and ends at noon.
Guests will be able to participate in a free rain barrel workshop by Pennsylvania Resources Council if signed up, a microscopic look at wastewater treatment, a dye test demonstration and more.
Attendees also will have the opportunity to talk with Pennsylvania American Water’s local management team and wastewater treatment professionals and ask questions about the service they receive.
Those who plan to take the tour are advised to wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear and long pants. Large bags and personal items should be left in secured vehicles. Attendees will be asked to sign in, and a parent or guardian must accompany and be responsible for children younger than 18 years of age.
