Lifesteps offering child screenings for autism, development delays

Lifesteps is offering its free child check program to screen for autism and developmental delays for children up to 5 years old.

Ensuring certain milestones are met for hearing, talking, seeing, playing and basic social skills at the appropriate age makes children far more likely to reach their potential, the company said in a news release.

The screening takes about 30 minutes to complete and involves testing using games and activities to determine a child’s development. Results are discussed with guardians immediately.

The program is available in Butler, Armstrong, Beaver, Indiana and Lawrence counties. It’s supported by United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, United Way of Beaver Counted, United Way of Indiana County, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and the Margaret M. Patton Trust for Charities.

Appointments can be scheduled by visiting Lifesteps’ website or calling 724-283-1010 or 1-800-225-2010.
