Butler welcomes Moon Doh

Moon Doh

The selection of Moon Doh as Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s new conductor hit just the right note with the community.

During a search that began in 2023, the symphony board chose Doh from three finalists who all delighted audiences with their energy and talents during the 2024-25 season.

We believe Doh is in tune with a community that values history as much as the arts. He said he intends to make the symphony’s next theme America250 in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

During the symphony’s fundraising gala May 4, Doh said he intends to highlight various styles of American music throughout the symphony schedule from jazz to standards to contemporary work.

We look forward to hearing what Doh has to offer.

Doh also said he looks to help the symphony reach out and partner with schools and other local organizations. We applaud the outreach effort.

Since 2021, Doh has served as associate conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Before that he served as artistic director and conductor of the Flora Symphony Orchestra in Cologne, Germany; and was involved with a number of other orchestras throughout Europe.

Outside of his work in music, Doh has been involved in international causes working to help the underserved.

It’s an impressive resume to bring to our county and we are honored and hopeful for what his tenure will bring.

We wish to welcome Moon Doh and look forward to the coming season.
