Virginia Wyona Scarpitti, 78, of Newport, N.C., died Sept. 16 at the Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C.

Survivors include three sons, Louis James Jr., Ronald Frank and Richard Eugene Scarpitti, all of Newport; four sisters, Thelma Marra, Dorothy Mercatell and Donna Palmer, all of Butler, and Helen J. Liell of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Joe Heichel of Ohio, Richard Heichel of Newport and Don Heichel of Butler; five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis James Scarpitti Sr., and her parents, Joseph Roy and Wyona Doughett Heichel.
