Carl L. Giesmann, 91, of Zelienople, formerly of Grove City, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople after a short illness.

Born in New Springfield, Ohio, on Aug. 3, 1916, he was the son of Reinhart and Hattie Giesmann.

He was a tool and die maker at Cooper Energy Services in Grove City and owned a photography studio in Mercer. He then opened his studio in Grove City from 1964 until his retirement in 1980.

He was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Butler and a former member of the Scotch Hill Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

He was an elder in the church and served on many boards with the Shenango Presbytery. He was on the board and was former treasurer of the Union Home Cemetery.

He enjoyed his family.

He is survived by two children, Lois Strycula and her husband, John M., of Warren, Ohio, and John C. Giesmann and his wife, Susan, of Bethany, W.Va.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred A. White, whom he married Feb. 1, 1942, and who died Jan. 29, 1995, and seven brothers and sisters.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

<B>GIESMANN</B> — Friends of Carl L. Giesmann, who died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>CUNNINGHAMFUNERALHOME</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave, Grove City. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. James Campbell, retired pastor of the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Butler, officiating. Burial will follow at Union Home Cemetery in Wolf Creek Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.
