R.B. 'Whitey' Robertson

R.B. "Whitey" Robertson, 77, of New Bethlehem died early Monday morning at his home after a long illness.

Born Dec. 6, 1928, in Manchester, Ky., he was the son of Leo and Ollie Lewis Robertson.

He was a Marine Corps veteran.

Mr. Robertson retired as president and CEO of PFC Bank, formerly the New Bethlehem Bank.

He also had been a painting contractor and owned and operated several businesses in the New Bethlehem area. The Newbie Lanes on Board Street in New Bethlehem was lost in a fire and rebuilt on Route 66 North of New Bethlehem. The building now is CharVal Candies. He also was a partner in the McCall Chrysler Garage, owned Robertson and Son Gas and Oil Co., Robertson Car Wash and Laundry and Robertson Used Cars.

He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was one of the founders of the Ginny Thornburg Foundation.

Mr. Robertson was very active in the Clarion County Republican Party and served on the Clarion University Board of Directors for 12 years. He belonged to the Moose Lodge, VFW, American Legion and Elks.

He married Joanne Zamperini; and she survives along with two sons, R.B. "Rock" Robertson Jr. and his wife, Valery, of New Bethlehem and Richard Robertson and his wife, Donna, of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Vicki Brill and her husband, Lenny, of San Francisco; a stepson, Greg Holmes of Roxboro, N.C.; and grandchildren, Rob Robertson and his wife, Jamie, Michelle, Jennifer and Andy Robertson, Kara and Adam Brill and Angela and Greg Jr. and Bryan Holmes.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robbie; an infant daughter, Carol; an infant son, Randy; a brother, Morton Robertson; and a sister, Sally Curry.

<B>ROBERTSON </B>— Friends of R.B. "Whitey" Robertson, who died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Rupert Funeral Home</B>, New Bethlehem. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, New Bethlehem, with the Rev. William Laska officiating. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, New Bethlehem.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 133-B, W. Main St., Clarion, PA 16214; or to St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 201 Washington St., New Bethlehem, PA 16242.
