Leonberg

Helen D. Leonberg, 88, of Mars, formerly of Zelienople, died Sunday at St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born July 17, 1920, in Downieville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Marx) Fritz.

Mrs. Leonberg was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mars and the Cranberry Township Historical Society.

She had worked at Main Street Antiques in Zelienople, and she loved to garden.

She is survived by a son, David R. Leonberg and his wife, Suzanne, of Mars; four grandchildren, Dr. Joel A. Leonberg, Kristin E. Leonberg-Tran, Amanda K. Leonberg and Ryan J. Leonberg; a son-in-law, John Sylvester of Beaver Falls; and a brother-in-law, Leo Simmons of Missouri. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey R. Leonberg; her daughter, Ruth Sylvester; two brothers, Charles and Howard Fritz; and a sister, Ruth Simmons.

Leonberg, who died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at St. John Specialty Care Center, 500 Wittenberg Way, Mars where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
