Esther Virginia Clark

Esther Virginia Clark, 78, of Grant Avenue Extension died Sunday morning at UPMC Shadyside.

Born Sept. 3, 1929, in Butler, she was the daughter of Charles Harvey Christy and Esther Edith Walter Christy.

Mrs. Clark was a co-owner and bookkeeper for Clark Trucking.

She was a member of the East Butler Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder. She also served as the church pianist and organist.

Mrs. Clark and her husband wintered in Florida for 30 years, and they also enjoyed RVing.

Surviving are her husband, John D. Clark Jr., whom she married July 17, 1946; a daughter, Sheila Hartle and her husband, Dave, of Butler; four sons, John D. Clark Jr. and his wife, Diana, of Polk and Bruce Clark and his wife, Cathy, George Clark and his wife, Carol, and Douglas Clark and his wife, Toni, all of Butler; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard L. and Earl M. Christy, both of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Harvey Christy and Ralph L. Christy.

<B>CLARK</B> — Friends of Esther Virginia Clark, who died Sunday, June 8, 2008, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Sickels of East Butler Presbyterian Church officiating.
