Police: Ohio residents arrested with kilogram of cocaine in Cranberry Township
Two Ohio residents have been arrested after state police said they brought a kilogram of cocaine to a set-up drug buy in Cranberry Township.
Harriel De Martez R. Moore and Sedelle M. Broyles, both 38 and of Canton, were arrested Wednesday, Dec. 4, on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy, and misdemeanors possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Broyles also was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Both were arraigned Thursday and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.
An informant told police and an agent from the Attorney General’s office Moore was bringing a kilo of cocaine from Canton to a parking lot along Route 19 in the township, according to an affidavit.
After police established surveillance, a black GMC Yukon with an Ohio license plate pulled into the lot just after 7 p.m. A man exited the Yukon and was identified as Moore by the undercover agent before they agreed to meet at the agent’s vehicle, according to the police report.
A trooper used K-9 Beny to conduct an exterior check of the Yukon, and the dog indicated the presence of narcotics at four locations in the vehicle. After obtaining a search warrant, a kilogram of cocaine was found in a shoebox on the rear driver’s side of the vehicle, according to an affidavit.
Affidavits do not include details of Moore’s arrest or how Broyles was involved, but one affidavit says Broyles was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use.
Preliminary hearings for both suspects are scheduled Dec. 13 before Cranberry Township District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
