PROSPECT — Author Abie Abraham, a survivor of the Bataan Death March in World War II, will speak at a dinner recognizing Butler County veterans at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Garden Gate Restaurant, Route 422.

The buffet dinner, sponsored by the Butler County Borough Association, costs $14 a person. Reservations must be made by Friday.

EVANS CITY — St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, 417 E. Main St., will host a Night at the Races from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.Admission is free, but a recommended donation of $3 will be accepted at the door. Horses can be named for $10 and there is a $25 prize for winning horses.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler High School Classes of January and June 1941 will host a 65-year reunion this weekend at the Butler Days Inn.An informal gathering will be held Friday and a banquet will be held Saturday. EVANS CITY — St. John's United Church of Christ will host its annual rummage sale Thursday through Saturday at 1008 S. Washington St.The sale begins at 9 a.m. each morning. Proceeds will benefit church charity and mission work.

EVANS CITY — The Evans City Library, 204 S. Jackson St., will host a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.Museums to open during fall festivalThe Butler County Heritage Center, Little Red School House and the Lowrie/Shaw House will be open Saturday during the Butler Fall Festival.Admission to each site is $3 for adults, $1 for youth ages 5 to 17 and free for children younger than 5 and for members of the historical society.The Lowrie/Shaw House will be open from 1 to 3 p.m., the Heritage Center from noon to 3 p.m. and the schoolhouse from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.Notices, in writing, of festivals, fundraising events, newly elected officers and other news from clubs and nonprofit groups should be sent to the Focus department one week in advance of the event.
