John A. Masters

Masters

John A. Masters, 79, of Butler died Sunday morning at his home.

Born Sept. 5, 1929, in Butler, he was the son of Carl and Margie Crawford Masters.

He was employed as a process computer technician at Butler Armco. He retired in 1984, after 38 years.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army's 8th Field Artillery Battalion. He received the Korean Defense Medal with two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, VFW Post 249, and Cubs A.S.A. He volunteered with Butler Meals on Wheels since 1993.

An avid golfer, he was a former member of Armco Country Club.

He was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1947.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth E. Convery Masters; a number of nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

<B>MASTERS</B>— Friends of John A. Masters, who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Dollhopf, pastor of First English Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Butler Meals on Wheels or to the First English Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.Information is available at www.martinfh.net.
