Tyler Wiles had 10 points and four steals as the Butler seventh grade Gold boys basketball team defeated Apollo-Ridge, 42-25, recently.

James Desmond contributed nine points and five assists, Xander Downing eight points.

Wrestling

Butler Junior High went 5-0 in winning the 13th annual Butler Duals. The event was named after longtime Butler wrestling volunteer J.C. Smith.

The Golden Tornado defeated Burrell 72-21, New Castle 76-23, Plum 60-33, Hampton 84-12 and Shaler 87-15.

Ben Lyons, Levi Donnell, Shawndell Zapata and Greg Schultz were 5-0 on the day while Saxon Stoner and Jaxon Steele were 4-0. Going 4-1 for Butler were Nick Shaukowitsch, Landon Christie, Justin Kabay, Cooper Baxter and Jacob Pomykata.

Butler returns to action Saturday at the 35-team North Allegheny Invitational.
