The Butler Junior High wrestling team placed 10th out of 51 teams at the District VII Junior High Championships last weekend at Norwin.

The Golden Tornado’s Shawndell Zapata placed second at 210 pounds and finished the year at 25-2. Justin Kabay and Cooper Baxter placed fourth at 145 and 155 pounds, respectively.

Kabay finished the year 22-8, Baxter 25-5.

Levi Donnel won in the quarterfinals, but had to medically default his final three matches and placed sixth. He was 21-0 this season before those defaults.

Nick Shaukowitsch placed sixth at 85 pounds. He was 4-18 with all of his wins by forfeit last year. He was 19-10 this year.

Domenic Vivrito entered the tourney unseeded at 9-14, lost to the top-seeded wrestler, then won four straight matches to place eighth. He ended the year 13-17.

Butler Junior High ended the season at 13-4 in duals. The PJW Area 7 Tournament us Sunday at West Allegheny. The top three finishers advance to the PJW state tourney in Johnstown the following weekend.
