Families repurpose vases, brighten seniors' day

Butler Catholic School families delivered more than 360 bud vases with drawings and uplifting messages from students to area senior care residents Saturday.

Kathy Dudley, director of development at Butler Catholic, said bud vases holding carnations were used as centerpieces at the school's Friday night Purse Bash Fundraiser. They were decorated by students and presented to seniors at Newhaven Court, Concordia at the Orchard, and Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The vases were decorated with illustrations and messages related to the project's slogan, “Sending sunshine your way.”Several families hand-delivered the vases to residents at the three facilities.“The purpose is to brighten up these rooms for the seniors in the winter,” Dudley said.
