SLIPPERY ROCK — Registration is being conducted for the March-through-May semester at the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Slippery Rock University. Once again, the ILR is offering a wide variety of classes and day trips.

Most “classes” meet in Slippery Rock. There are no books or tests.

Individuals can request a print catalog for the spring semester by contacting the ILR at info@ilretirement.org or by calling 724-738-1604. The catalog is also available online at www.ilretirement.org.

[naviga:h3]Mental illness challenge tackled[/naviga:h3]

Many Butler County families face challenges stemming from a loved one’s mental illness. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Butler County is offering Family-to-Family, an eight-week education program taught by trained family members beginning at 6 p.m. March 11.

The weekly classes continue on Wednesdays through April 29 at the Center for Community Resources, 214 S. Main St. All course materials are furnished at no cost.

[naviga:h3]Library celebrates Seuss birthday[/naviga:h3]

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Public Library will mark the birthday of Dr. Seuss from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.

There will be Seuss-themed games, “The Cat in the Hat” will be read followed by birthday cake and a viewing of the live-action version of the book on the library’s big screen.

This event is most suitable for ages 4 and up.

ZELIENOPLE — The fourth annual comedy Show to benefit the Zelienople Library will be Saturday.

Pittsburgh sports journalist and comedian Gene Collier will be joined by his son Sean Collier for an evening of laughs at Glade Run Lutheran Services (Dining Hall), 485 W. Beaver St.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m. This is an adult only event.
