Storm damage at Father Marinaro Park
This massive oak tree in Father Marinaro Park in Butler is one of several trees that fell in city parks Thursday when thunderstorms and high winds knocked down trees and power lines throughout the county.
The tree in the photo crushed a park bench when it fell. Three other trees were also knocked down in Father Marinaro Park. One tree fell in Memorial Park and another tree fell and smashed a fence at the tennis courts at Ritz Park. City Councilman Jeff Smith said a tree service is coming to cut and remove the fallen trees. Some of the branches might be chipped and used in the parks.
