Express Yourself
Cathy Tack of Butler participates in a session of the Butler Art Center's Paint Like You class Friday. The center regularly hosts a number of art workshops open to the public. For $30, students can learn to paint with oil and acrylic over a four-week period. All experience levels are welcome and the class is offered regularly. The point of the class is to learn self-expression, according to Stephen Haley, the art center's gallery director. “The point of art is to express yourself, not what your teacher wants you to express,” Haley said. “It's to get people interested in the arts, but to also get them interested in themselves and what they're capable of.”
