3 county students win credit union awards
Due to the support of Armco Credit Union, three local students recently received scholarships from a regional trade organization.
The Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions awarded five scholarships. Applicants were required to be a member of a credit union and submit an essay.
The winners were selected from 53 applicants representing 12 area credit unions.
Payton Cornetti of Butler is a senior at Butler Area Senior High School and received a $1,000 scholarship for her academic achievements, volunteerism and winning essay.
Payton plans to study finance, but is still in the process of selecting a college.
Alison Cammisa of Renfrew is a sophomore at Waynesburg University majoring in elementary education and special education.
Cammisa received a scholarship for $500.
Allison Thomas of Butler is a freshman at Grove City College, double majoring in elementary education and special education.
Thomas received a $500 scholarship.
Armco Credit Union is the second-largest credit union in the Pittsburgh area with $425 million in assets, 30,000 members, 170 sponsor organizations and four branch locations in Butler County.
