Freeport Renaissance Association will host Freeport’s Fabulous Fall Fudge Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the downtown business district. Butler County Civil War Roundtable will sponsor its third annual Downtown Butler Ghost Walk at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday as well as Oct. 25 and 26. This 60-minute event will begin in Diamond Park. The guided tour will include Diamond Park and the adjacent Main Street business district. Ghost stories from Butler’s past to be discussed include Sam Mohawk, the Biddle Boys/Mrs. Soffel, the Headless Man, Chinese Laundry Murder, and the Phantom Civil War Regiment. Speakers will include Paul Adomites, editor of Oilfield Journal; Susan Beates, curator at Drake Well Museum and Park; Ihor Bemko, associate professor of history at Edinboro University; Michelle Gray, executive director of the Warren County Historical Society; and Melissa Mann, site administrator at Drake Well Museum and Park. Also invited are representatives from the Bradford, Butler County, Clarion County and Venango County historical societies as well as librarians and archivists from Oil City, Foxburg and the Barbara Morgan Harvey Oil Collection at Venango College, Clarion University.
