NEW YORK — The Yankees' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night was postponed because of a forecast of rain and will be made up as part of Pittsburgh’s third doubleheader in July, all in the last three series.

New York announced the postponement about five hours before the scheduled start and said it will play two games Wednesday. The regularly scheduled game starts at 1:05 p.m. and the makeup at 7:05 p.m.

Pittsburgh is off Thursday before a home series against the Chicago Cubs.

The Yankees also are off Thursday, then start a series at Philadelphia. New York split a day-night doubleheader Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers after a rainout Saturday night.
