Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, hosts “An Evening with Fireflies: Citizen Science After Dark” at 8 p.m. June 13. Registration is limited and required by June 9 by calling 724-794-6011, or online at https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/an_evening_with_fireflies_citizen_science_after_dark. Cost is $10, and includes a T-shirt and firefly field guide. Proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania Firefly Festival.
Moraine State Park will have a Bartramian Audubon Society bird walk from 9 a.m. to noon June 8 from the McDanel's Launch/Owlet Gift Shop parking lot on the North Shore. A Muddy Creek Oil Well Living History program is planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8 as well.
McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Tours are given at 1 and 2 p.m. Admission is free. A Slippery Rock Gorge trail hike will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday from Hell’s Hollow parking lot.
