Bentleyville man accused of sexually assaulting girl in Jefferson Township

A 22-year-old Bentleyville man hid under the bed of a 15-year-old girl in Jefferson Township to avoid being caught performing sexual acts when her mother returned from work, according to charges filed Wednesday, July 8.

According to state police, William Kanye Leach, 22, had been speaking with the girl over Snapchat for about three months and visiting her at the house since mid-June before his presence was discovered.

He was charged Wednesday, July 8, by state police with two felony counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault, one felony count each of unlawful contact with a minor and interference with child custody and two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors and indecent assault.

Police said on Tuesday, Leach took an Uber to the girl’s home while her mother was at work and participated in sexual acts with the girl.

Police said Leach would hide under the girl’s bed so her mother would not find him.

Later Tuesday night, police said Leach and the girl went to the BP in Saxonburg where Leach gave her alcohol, marijuana and a vape. Police were alerted when the two left. The girl told police when the two were returning to the home, she saw the lights on in the home and told Leach to run.

The girl returned home about 15 minutes before police responded to the residence, according to charging documents.

Police said they searched the home and found a backpack allegedly belonging to Leach with marijuana paraphernalia, razor blades, knives and paint brushes, and two blankets and a pillow set up in the garage as if someone was sleeping there.

The girl’s mother said the items should not be there, police said.

The girl told police she was terrified by Leach, and he had threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone, according to police.

After troopers left the scene, Leach was spotted in the woods behind the home and police were called again.

He was not immediately taken into custody, as police said they spotted someone behind the residence but lost track of them as they fled into the woods.

He was later arrested on a warrant in the case and is being held in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail. Leach’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. July 28 before District Judge Jack Ripper.
