B'NAI ABRAHAM

Congregation B’nai Abraham will have a joyous Simchat Torah service at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9. Torah scrolls will be carried in a procession, accompanied by singing and dancing.

World-renowned clarinetist and pianist Susanne Ortner and Tom Roberts will play for the procession and for the reception afterward. The community is welcome.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

The prayer shawl group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will meet at 6:30 p.m. today.

The youth group worship service will be for both services Sunday. Holy Communion also will be observed.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will celebrate Communion at the Sunday morning worship service.

Community Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper during the worship service for World Communion Sunday.

One-fourth of the peace and global witness offering Sunday will support Syrian refugees.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have first Communion classes for youths in grades 1 through 6 following the 11 a.m. services on Sunday, Oct. 11 and 18.

GLADE RUN UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The youth group of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, will have a lock-in at the church beginning at 10 p.m. Friday.

GRACE@CALVARY LUTHERAN

A treasure hunter’s sale at Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

GLOW youth group will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Golden Agers of Grace will be honored Sunday morning. The celebration will continue with a reception after the service. The confirmation class will be at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Church volunteers will serve the Monday community dinner at First English Lutheran Church.

GRACEWAY

Beth Ackelson will provide the special music for GraceWay’s Sunday worship service at Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road. World Communion Sunday will be observed.

The adult Bible study will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

World Communion Sunday will be observed at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The peacemaking offering also will be received. A congregational meeting will follow worship.

The Hill Youth Chorale will rehearse at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. The instrumental ensemble will rehearse at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Youth fellowship groups Club 56 and JumpStart 78 will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Reservations for the deacons’ Oct. 24 trip to Lake Arthur are due Sunday.

The food request for October is noodles or tuna.

NEW ZION

Hilary Theiss of AAA Life Services of Clarion will be the guest speaker during the worship service Sunday at New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 1195 Airport Road, Emlenton.

Theiss soon will be the executive director of the agency, which offers spiritual, emotional and practical help to women facing unexpected pregnancies.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

RIDER LUTHERAN

Kids in Christ Klub (K.I.C.K.) will be from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday for preschoolers to sixth graders.

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate Holy Communion during Sunday worship.

The cause of the month is Lutheran World Relief in memory of Ruth Boughton.

SUMMIT PRESBYTERIAN

Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, will serve Communion during the Sunday worship service.

The annual church picnic will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Grabes’ Pavilion, 223 Bull Creek Road. It will include a potluck dinner at 5 p.m., a bonfire, games and hayrides. Take chairs, roasting sticks and a dish to share. There will be no youth group Sunday.
