BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will have a nominations committee meeting today at 7 p.m.

Rally Day will be Sunday and include a pancake breakfast from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Sunday school classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. The red church offering will benefit the First English Lutheran Church community dinner.

The men’s breakfast will be at 8 a.m. Monday at Kings Restaurant, 191 New Castle Road. The community dinner work team will meet at 4 p.m. Monday. The finance committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

The Rev. Fred Kison, candidate for senior pastor, will be the speaker for Sunday morning worship at Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave. He and his wife will answer questions after the service. The vote on accepting the Rev. Kison will be Sept. 18.

Adult Sunday school will resume at 9 a.m. and the Sunday evening pickup basketball game will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Enter at the ramp door of the gym.

The Monday evening Bible study will resume at 6:30 p.m. and the board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Welcome back Sunday will be this week at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. in the assembly room, the worship service will be at 11 a.m. and a potluck luncheon will be at 12:05 p.m.

The first choir rehearsal will be today at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. The choir will participate in the Sunday worship service.

EAST BUTLER PRESBYTERIAN

East Butler Presbyterian Church, 9th and Randolph streets, East Butler, will welcome the barbershop quartet Just Us to Sunday morning worship.

Church members will pray for the nation on the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

EMMANUEL LUTHERAN

The Rev. Gary Brown will lead a healing service at 4 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 143 Church St., Prospect. Future services will be Oct. 8 and Nov. 12.

FIRST BAPTIST

Ladies from First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will attend the ladies’ retreat Friday and Saturday at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp, 130 Elliott Lane, Slippery Rock. For more details, call 724-287-7241.

The Sunday schedule will include Sunday school, a morning worship service, a noon luncheon and a 1 p.m. worship service. The Rev. Sam McNamara will speak at both services.

Worship services at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will return to the fall/winter/spring schedule with services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school will begin with Rally Day at 9:45 a.m. and the theme will be nourishment at the table.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

The fellowship and service committee of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will meet at 10 a.m. Friday.

Church members will meet at the church to walk in a suicide awareness and remembrance event at 5 p.m. Friday.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 15. Use the East Diamond Street ramp door Saturday.

The finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and the worship and music committee will meet at 7 p.m.

The Treasure Hunter’s Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15-16 and from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 17.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Amber Crowe and Jason Ellenberger will provide special music for the Sunday worship service.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

There will be a loose coin offering for educational scholarships for Ghanaian girls and young women at the Sunday worship of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The Memorial Handbell choir will play.

Community lunches will be assembled at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall. The women’s book club will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Friday is the deadline to register for the women’s retreat at Camp Kon-O-Kwee.

The adult women’s Bible study on the book of Hebrews is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

The September food request is peanut butter or jelly.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The stewardship committee of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, will meet tonight at 7:15.

Rally Day will begin at the 10 a.m. service Sunday. A luncheon will follow the service.

The buildings and grounds committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday. GriefShare will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the library.

There will be a membership meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the board room. Chancel choir rehearsal will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

MERIDIAN UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The session of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in room 15.

To participate in the bell and chancel choirs, attend the bell choir rehearsal at 6 p.m. Thursday and the chancel choir rehearsal at 7 p.m.

The annual church picnic will be after the Sunday morning service. Refreshments and the main dish will be provided. Take a favorite dish that serves at least 18 people. Sign up in the church library.

Muddy Creek united PRESBYTERIAN

Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, will have Sunday School Rally Day from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be served. Classes are available for preschool age to adult.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Membership classes at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will begin during the Sunday school hour on Sept. 18. Class information will include Christianity, Presbyterianism and Old Union Church.

RIDER LUTHERAN

Rally Sunday at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury, will be this week.

The steering group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday and the church council will meet at 8 p.m.

ST.JOHN’S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

The fall worship season will begin with Rally Day this Sunday morning at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City. The Rev. Jane Duffield will lead the service. The Christian education committee will host a special fellowship afterward in the narthex.

The finance committee will meet after fellowship Sunday in the green room.

Set up for the Sept. 15 to 17 rummage sale also will be Sunday.

ST.MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will host a yard sale for Katie’s Kitchen at 9 a.m. Saturday at Spectrum Insurance, 248 New Castle Road.

Rally Day Weekend will include Sunday school at 9 a.m. Sunday and confirmation classes at 4:30 p.m. Backpack Blessings will be at the 10:15 a.m. worship service Sunday.

3T will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the fellowship hall.

Ruth Circle will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and the bell choir will be at 6:30 p.m.

The children’s hour will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The sanctuary choir will be at 6:30 p.m.

ST. MICHAEL ROMAN CATHOLIC

Catholic Alive! will be at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Hall, 432 Center Ave., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Kevin Fazio will present “A Scriptural Reflection: Choose the Better Part.” Child care will be available.

SUMMIT PRESBYTERIAN

Small groups of all ages will begin “The Story” curriculum after the Sunday service at Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive. An inquirers’ class will meet at 10:45 a.m.

The men’s group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the old schoolhouse.

The Tuesday women’s Bible study will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The deacons will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the session will meet at 7 p.m.

The praise team practice will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the chancel choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.

ZION LUTHERAN

Zion Lutheran Church, 266 Zion Church Road, Chicora, will have a 10 a.m. Sunday worship service and a program by Out of the Blue band. There will be a picnic lunch with meat, buns and beverages provided. Take a dish to share. Dress will be casual.
