Transit authority open to new paratransit, lobbying contracts

The Butler Transit Authority on Tuesday agreed to issue requests for proposals for transit service for people with disabilities and for lobbying in Harrisburg.

Authority board members unanimously voted to issue a request for proposals for paratransit service for people with disabilities who can't ride regular buses.

The authority's current contract for that service with Alliance for Nonprofit Resources expires June 30, 2021, said John Paul, authority executive director.

The current contract is a three-year agreement with a two-year extension. The authority and ANR are in the final year of the extension.

The board also approved releasing an RFP for lobbying lawmakers in the state capitol.

The current contract, a three-year deal with a two-year extension, with Malady and Wooten LLC of Harrisburg also expires June 30, 2021.

Paul said the authority wants the length of both new contracts to be same as the current contracts.
