Thanks for the generosity

We recently had a beautiful evening honoring community members who are caring for a family member living with dementia. I’d like to publicly thank the kind and generous folks who gave of their time, energy and compassion last week to celebrate these strong warriors.

Joann Lindstrom, from Touch of Health Massage, was gracious enough to donate her time and provide much-needed massages for family members who don’t always care for themselves in extra special ways like massage. Suzie Dalessandro, spiritual coordinator from VNA Hospice, provided music therapy by playing the crystal sound bowls; she not only provided music and relaxation, but also provided extra warmth and comfort that hospice always provides.

A great big thank you to Michelle Lesniak and her staff at the South Butler Community Library for not only providing the delicious food for these hardworking caregivers that evening, but also for always going the extra mile each month to have everyone feel welcomed as they arrive for the support group.

If you have a family member living with dementia, you’re always welcome to join us; we meet the second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the South Butler Community Library in Saxonburg.

You are warriors and you are not alone.

Michelle Govan, RN, Certified Dementia Practitioner, Dementia360 Care Coordinator, Cabot
