Worth Township supervisors need time on fee change
WORTH TWP — Worth Township supervisors tabled action on adjusting the area's fee schedule in Tuesday's meeting.
Supervisor Chairman Fred Brezel said fees utility companies pay to the township for projects or installations are outdated and do not adequately cover township maintenance.
For example, installing $100 feet of pipe under a road only costs about $40, according to township Secretary/Treasurer Shari Kreutz.
Also, Worth Township's fees are lower than the surrounding townships, but Brezel said the supervisors need more time to review a new proposal.
“We haven't updated that in a while,” he said.
Also at the meeting, the supervisors approved a bid from Suit-Kote Corp. for oil at a cost of a little over $100,000, which will be used for road maintenance in the township. Supervisor Brian McMurdy said about five miles of road in the township are proposed to undergo maintenance this year.“We go around in mid-spring to see what roads need work done,” he said.
The supervisors also reminded township residents that June 12 will be the MS Bike Race and the annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival, which will both take place partially in Worth Township.
