Monday — Police filed a charge of terroristic threats against Christopher Geibel, 30, of Butler, who is accused of threatening employees at Butler Memorial Hospital. Geibel on Aug. 12 allegedly made several statements that alarmed hospital staffers, according to court documents, including one in which he told them that he would get a gun, return to the facility and "murder the staff."
6:10 p.m. Monday — Christopher Kosol, 34 of McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, is accused of shoplifting several pairs of pants and shirts at the JCPenney store in the Clearview Mall, Center Township. Police said the stolen items are valued at $500.
12:16 a.m. Wednesday — Christopher McSwain, 21, of Sligo was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed through a fence and into a cow pasture along Route 68 near Curllsville Road in Toby Township. McSwain, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor head injury.
4:17 p.m. Tuesday — Harry T. Terwilliger Jr., 67, of Tionesta, Forest County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 79 at the Grove City exit in Springfield Township.5:11 a.m. Monday — AMack truck and tractor-trailer collided on Route 19 in SpringfieldTownship, injuring two men and causing a minor fuel spill into a creek.The crash occurred when the speeding truck driven by Charles L. Schaefer, 51, of Grove City struck the rig driven by Ricky A. Edwards, 47, of New Castle. Schaefer's truck traveled down an embankment and into a creek.Both drivers were taken to the Grove City Medical Center and treated for minor to moderate injuries and released.An undetermined amount of gasoline and oil from the truck was released into the creek.Officials for the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Fish and Boat Commission, as well the Mercer County Hazardous Materials Team and Springfield Township volunteer firefighters were called and cleaned up the spill.Schaefer faces charges for careless driving and driving too fast for conditions.
5:07 p.m.Wednesday — Acar driven by Joshua L. Bertoncello, 23, of Slippery Rock struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle on Route 108 in Plain Grove Township.The crash forced the SUVdriven by Rebekah Sheeler, 44, of Slippery Rock into the rear of a car driven by Mary Kelly, 44, of New Castle, which was stopped to make a left turn onto Plain Grove Road. Bertoncello was cited for careless driving.
