Monday — An unknown thief stole a 26-gallon air compressor from a home in the 600 block of West Penn Street. The red, 75-pound Craftsman air compressor, valued at $350, was taken between 4:45 and 9:40 p.m.
8:35 p.m. Sunday — Joseph H. Sciulli, 25, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance on New Castle Road. Police suspected Sciulli was under the influence of heroin.Police searched the defendant and turned up 47 empty stamp bags and one full stamp bag of suspected heroin. Sciulli faces charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving and a lane violation.12:50 a.m. Saturday — Brandon March, 25, of Valencia was arrested for DUI on Pittsburgh Road near Hansen Avenue. March also is cited for driving without a license and five other traffic violations.1 p.m. Friday — Leah McGee, 20, of East Butler is accused of shoplifting $130 in merchandise from the Kohl's store in the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. McGee is charged with retail theft.
Tuesday — Troopers issued 16 tickets and four warnings to 15 drivers caught in an aerial speed trap on Route 422 in Butler Township.The motorists were stopped between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. during the State Police Aerial Reconnaissance and Enforcement (SPARE) detail, which uses aircraft to clock motorists' speed and radio to troopers on the ground to stop the trafficThree commercial truck drivers were among those nabbed for speeding.4:04 p.m. Monday — Ashley J. Glover, 18, of Butler was hurt when the car she was driving crashed into a culvert on East Glenwood Way in Center Township. Glover, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.12:04 p.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by William P. McGraw 50, of Butler struck a tree along Route 228 near Sandy Hill Road in Clinton Township. McGraw, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. He was cited for a lane violation.Saturday — An unknown hit-and-run driver hit the side of Zanella's Feed Mill on Main Street in West Sunbury, and drove away after the crash between 11 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday. A loading dock at the business was damaged.Police believe the suspected vehicle is red, and it should have damage to the passenger side front fender and door area. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.6:30 a.m. Friday — Brandon R. Westover, 20, of Millfied, Ohio, faces weapons and drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. He is charged with possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia
6 p.m. Thursday — Bradley Weisenstein, 23, of Ellwood City suffered moderate injuries when the motorcycle he was driving cashed and slid about 100 feet off Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The cycle slid another 45 feet after it left the road.Weisenstein, who was wearing a helmet, was cited for driving an unsafe speed.
