4:20 p.m. Wednesday — Jason Saeler, 26, of Butler was caught allegedly shoplifting at the Walmart in Butler Commons. Police cited Saeler for retail theft.State Police, ButlerThursday — Police filed drug-related charges against Justin E. McKivigan, 25, of Meridian after he was caught last week with suspected heroin at a Butler home.A trooper said he spotted McKivigan about 9 p.m. Feb. 11 walking from an illegally parked car on North Cliff Street. The officer followed the suspect to a nearby home and looked in through a storm door.Inside, according to a police report, McKivigan “began to empty his pockets and throw suspected bags of heroin on the floor of the resident.”He was searched, police said, and found with drug paraphernalia. Additional contraband and suspected heroin were found in a white sock and cigarette box under his truck, police said.McKivigan is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

6:34 a.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Frederick J. Tickle, 87, of Kittanning and a car driven by David Tomaswick, 47, of Ford City collided on Route 422 in front of the Dairy Queen in Manor Township. Police said Tickle was cited for improperly entering the road from a parking lot.Thursday — Jacob T. Antoszyk, 18, of Kittanning was arrested on charges he broke into Novotny's Grocery Store on Winfield Road in South Buffalo Township this week.Police suspect Antoszyk got into the store Tuesday night after using a brick to smash out a front door window. He is accused of stealing about 120 packs of cigarettes worth more than $600 from the store.Antoszyk was arraigned on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $25,000 jail.9:10 p.m. Tuesday — Randall Eckman, 26, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a hit-and-run crash at Route 66 and Fairgrounds Road in Manor Township.Police said after Eckman's car struck a vehicle from behind, he fled the scene.
