Monday — An overnight vandalism spree was discovered at the First Baptist Church in the 200 block of West New Castle Street. Among the broken property was a plexiglass sign in front and a wooden sign in back.A newly planted tree at the church also was damaged. Police said it appeared someone tried to rip it out of the ground. Total damage is estimated at $550.
Thursday — Assorted power tools and hand tools worth $3,145 were stolen from a utility trailer in the 300 block of Frazier Road in Jefferson Township. The theft happened between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.Thursday — Police reported David M. Craft, 22, of Slippery Rock faces theft and trespass charges in connection with the spring break-in of a home on Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township. Craft allegedly stole silver coins and gold jewelry in the break-in between May 19 and June 17.6:57 a.m. Wednesday — Raymond A. Wiefling, 66, of Butler was hurt when the sport utility vehicle he was driving rear-ended a car at Route 68 and Stevenson Road in Connoquenessing Township. Wiefling, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.Wiefling was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Mary A. McIndoe, 48, of Connoquenessing was driving the car.
10:38 p.m. Wednesday — Richard W. Katsko, 42, of Fenelton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle crashed into a guardrail and the grass median on Route 422 in East Franklin Township. Katsko, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to ACMH Hospital with minor injuries.
10:03 p.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Benjamin J. Mickley, 23, of Grove City and a car driven by Melanie E. Davis, 62, of Stoneboro collided at Routes 173 and 62 in Sandy Lake. Davis, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. Mickley was cited for failing to yield to another vehicle.
