Butler Police7:27 a.m. Wednesday — Someone entered a duplex on Fairview Avenue owned by Joseph Herring of Butler, cutting about $150 worth of copper piping from the basement between Oct. 23 and Oct. 26.2:37 a.m. Oct. 7 — Craig S. Ison Jr. was charged with simple assault after he allegedly punched a neighbor on Morton Avenue who discovered Ison in his home without permission and asked Ison to leave.Oct. 2 — Justin W. Conner 25, of Latrobe was charged with DUI, DUI high rate of alcohol, DUI controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle following a traffic stop on Brady Street near Elm Street.Conner’s vehicle could not be moved after striking a vehicle about a block from where it was discovered by police. He allegedly was still trying to drive it from the scene. On the back seat of the car, police allegedly discovered a marijuana grinder containing marijuana.Blood test results from Butler Memorial Hospital arrived Saturday, showing Conner’s blood-alcohol content over the legal limit and that he had a “high amount of THC,” the active ingredient in marijuana, resulting in the charges.Sept. 6 — Eric M. Butler, 36, of Langhorne, Pa., was charged with bad checks after he allegedly wrote a check for $72 from a Citizens Bank account with insufficient funds to Friedman’s on West Brady Street. Friedman’s also is due $50 in bad check fees. Charges were filed Friday.Aug. 15 — Jason S. Gariglio, 39, of Butler was charged with bad checks after he allegedly wrote a pair of checks, one on Aug. 13 and one on Aug. 15, totaling $126 from a Citizens Bank account with insufficient funds to Friedman’s on West Brady Street. Friedman’s also is due $100 in bad check fees. Charges were filed Friday.July 25 — Christopher L. Smith, 26, of Butler was charged with bad checks after he allegedly wrote six checks, totaling about $507, from a closed First Commonwealth Bank account to Friedman’s on West Brady Street between July 21 and July 25. Friedman’s also is due $300 in bad check fees. Charged were filed Friday.
State Police, Mercer9:30 a.m. Oct. 23 — A tractor trailer driven by Scott H. Cassaday, 49, of Clinton, Ind., and a car driven by Susan C. McClain, 46, of Sharon collided on Route 258 near Route 208 in Springfield Township. McClain suffered a minor injury.
State Police, Clarion4:05 a.m. Friday — Police are searching for three white men, two last seen wearing hooded sweatshirts and jeans, one wearing a flannel shirt and jeans, after they allegedly tried to steal cigarette signs from the Smoke For Less parking lot in Clarion Township. When the clerk attempted to stop the men, one allegedly put him in a “sleeper hold” knocking him out, and the suspects fled in multiple directions.
