2 p.m. Saturday — Laurie R. Crawford, 30, of Butler was arrested for felony retail theft after allegedly stealing $45 worth of merchandise from the Wal-Mart off Route 356. Crawford, who has four prior convictions, also was charged with defiant trespass. Crawford was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bail. Additionally, Butler County Adult Probation placed a detainer on her for a probation violation.2:41 p.m. Thursday — A vehicle driven by Charles Malis, 75, of Butler went over a hillside off Hillvue Drive and hit a tree. A police officer broke a window to get into the vehicle and free Malis, who was suffering an unknown medical problem.Malis was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor head injury. The South Butler Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.Nov. 24 — Amanda Zapp, 18, of Butler was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing $315 worth of merchandise from the Wal-Mart off Route 356 multiple times. Zapp, a store employee, was caught by other workers as she attempted to leave the store on Thanksgiving with some of those items.Meanwhile, police later discovered she committed prior thefts, with the total value equaling $315. Most of the items were clothing.

1:51 p.m. Nov. 28 — A car driven by Glenn B. Bartmas, 25, of Butler struck the rear of a pickup truck on North Road in Franklin Township. Police said Bartmas was cited for following too closely to another vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without insurance and not securing children in booster seats. Paul D. Boyer, 65, of Greenville, Mercer County, was driving the pickup.6:15 p.m. Nov. 20 — A 14-year-old girl reported her cell phone was stolen from a bleacher bench at Community Alliance Church on Mercer Road in Center Township.Nov. 8 — A student, who police did not identify, was caught with a folding pocket knife at Slippery Rock High School. The youth in juvenile court faces a charge of possessing a weapon on school property.

4:10 p.m. Monday — Two boys are suspected of breaking into a pair of cars in the area of Superior Street and Gregg Avenue in Pine Township.1:50 p.m. Monday — Gina L. Leppert, 48, of Grove City was hurt when the car she was driving struck several trees along Cranberry Road in Pine Township. Leppert, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with unknown injuries. Police said she faces a ticket for careless driving.
